I rarely write about our weekends. They are pretty uneventful...Daddy joins us, we play, fish, play some more, I get to relax, etc. But this one was different.
All 3 of our kids are VERY stubborn. I say they get it from their daddy, he says they get it from me. This weekend is living proof. Friday morning as we were packing our lunch for our Junk trip, Ms. Pink was sitting near the fridge putting on her favorite boots. I opened the top freezer and a huge re-freezable ice block fell on her head. She cried a minute or 2 then she forgot about it...a little Motrin just in case.
Then Saturday, Daddy and the boys took the farm truck and drove the perimeter of our land. An unexpected and hidden washout caught them all by surprise. The Dodge fell about 4 feet and both boys flew head first into the windshield. Yes, I know all about seat belts and I have seen first hand (more than most people) what happens when you don't wear them. But the farm is our safe haven, and when you are driving no more than 10 mph, who would think?? Now the Dodge is stuck and Daddy had to carry and highly encourage the boys to walk back to the house about 2 miles!
Thank goodness I did not see the windshield until later or I would have rushed everyone to Scott & White for a head CT. But after spending my last 10 years in a Children's hospital, I did learn a thing or 2. They did not black out, pupils were reactive, no vomiting yet, and no blood or need for stitches/staples. Motrin all around and lets play!
So yes, maybe we all are a tad bit hard headed but it does pay off in some cases. A neighbor so kindly pulled us out with the John Deere and even gave the kids a ride. Now the boys refuse to ride around on the farm without their car seat or crash helmet!
